Does it develop overtime like an arranged marriage? I don't mean to be rude, I really want to know. With NPHC groups, you research all the groups first, then decide who you want to be down with, and either you're down or you're not. So, can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.
An excellent question.

As is obvious from this thread, most of us who join NPC or NIC organizations do it because we meet the people in the groups, we like the people in the groups, and we can see ourselves being happy with the people in our sorority or fraternity. After we choose this group, we learn the history, and we learn to appreciate the organization from the experiences we have from it.

From this thread, it appears that most people who join NPHC groups know the kind of organization they want to belong to, and learn to love the people in it because of the experiences the organization has given them with their sisters or brothers . . . most NPC/NIC groups are the opposite -- the majority of us know the kind of people we want to spend time with, and we learn to love the organization because of the people it has brought us to, you know?

Of course, I can't speak for everyone, and there are members of NPC groups out there who might have only considered one group -- I know a girl whose mom was a Kappa Kappa Gamma, and this girl was going to join Kappa or nothing at all. But I think that for the most part, it works the way I described above.
