the full story

well, for those of you reading this i should give the full story...

When i damaged the alero, i had struck the side of a mustang GT, stripping the molding off it's side. Now, because this was in a different parking lot (at the other hotel i work part-time), i didn't know who's vechicle it was and thought i could cover it up by placing the molding back & bailing. Well, when i had reported the damage to the cops, i later found out that because it was a police vechile it wasn't just a matter of the hotel geusts' filling out a report. In the report i had stated that i hit an suv tire, not causing any damage to the other vechile; starting an intricate web of lies. Yesterday, the guy who's car was struck complained to the hotel. The parking attendent, seeing the damage to the olds and the mustang, realized it was caused by lord elgin bellman, passed this message on to the marriot bellman - and then to the owner when he showed up.

It wasn't long after my boss asked me if i had damaged the mustang, and shortly after when i had to get another car i ran into my-corker..."hey nick, i geuss a lord elgin bellman hit this guy's brand new mustang."
oh really, huh, wow
"did you hear anything about it"
ahh no -
"wow you should see it, well hear, i'll show you..."

In short: i lied to about 10 ppl, made false statements in a police report and caused a lot of unnecessary grief and paperwork to several individuals. Luckily, nothing will come of it...but it's one of those incidents where the ramnifications of the coverup are much worse (could have been really ugly) than the original accident.

Had i been more honest in the beginning, it would have been nothing. I didn't have to pay for any damages anyway, but i panicked and didn't exercise the best judgement.

Stick to the truth.
