The SRU chapter closed right before when I was pledging in Fall of 99, and you are correct, it was for hazing.

While i'm glad that KD nationally doesn't put up with hazing, I know that other houses there haze A LOT. I came home to work on Christmas break right after I pledged, and a girl I went to HS with who is in a sorority there saw my lavalier, and was like "oh, your house got closed for hazing". She then proceeded to brag about how badly they hate. Out of respect for the national, i'm not going to name the house, but several people from my high school were in it and they all told me the same thing.

I don't really know if there's much you can do at the moment. I'd love to see another KD chapter back in the area. However, it hasn't been the customary 5 years (usually wait at least 5 years so that the reputation can heal and all the past members can graduate). I also don't know what greek life is like up there and whether or not they'd be open for expansion.

The advice i'd give would be to a) contact HQ and b) contact the Greek Life advisor at SRU.

I don't think there's any SRU greeks on GC.... not that i've come across at least.

I'd also try to tell you to start and AA, but I don't know how many alumnae would be in the area there.

Good luck!
