Currently I participate in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program as well as Habitat for Humanity. I have also worked with Corner Stone Services, which is an organization that helps individuals that are mentally and physically challenged develop soical and work skills.
Somthing that I would like to do in the future, if my time permits, would be to work with battered women and children.
I have taken it upon myself to take my son and twin nieces to a local nursing home and help the residents with their activities. I was amazed at how many people are left alone in nursing homes. Being that my son and nieces are ages 5 and 6, I try to teach them the importance of doing for the less fortunate. The residents at the nursing home welcomed the kids with open arms. There is one gentleman that asks his nurse when the "Rugrats" are coming back to visit. At first I got offended, but because he asked when they would be returning let me know that he did enjoy there presence.
