Big Chapter: Emporia State University Gamma Zeta

Little Chapter: University of Missouri-Columbia Zeta Omega

Chapter Size: 22 actives, 3 active alumni (on campus)
Kappas have 16 or so with 2 conditional members

Band Program: 200 pulling from a campus of 5000 plus community members

Retention is the first step to making TBS stronger. Keep the members you have and you can just maintain membership to keep the chapter strong.

Ways of Retaining members:

Make meetings orderly and purposeful.

Interview members who are leaving. Ask why they are leaving. Ask then what the chapter could have done to make them stay.

Integrate the new members into the active membership. Maintain families in your organization. It helps strengthen the bond of sisterhood.

As far as recruitment goes...

Incorporate interested peoples into the organization. Let them see what Tau Beta Sigma is.

Plan a recruitment service project.
Invite them to visit during a social.
Free food is always an option.

Learn from your Kappa brothers.
If their membership is higher, find out what they do.
See if you can modify their methods and use them to increase recruitment.
Maintain the attitude of "whichever chapter you join, we will be happy. " If kky and tbs can't work together and appear to be harmonious, it can be hazardous to our health.

Try lots of different recruitment methods if you're having trouble. See what works for your program.

Hope these were the kinds of suggestions you were looking for!
