ooookay, heres my $19.46....

As a sister of Tau Beta Sigma at a small rural primarily white Pennsylvania school - with both orgs, and both co-ed... I think that all chapters should be single sex.

Things Ive noticed in the NED:
Clarion (my school)
Sisters: 9
Brothers: 23

Now that isnt bad, but we have one male. He is leaving this semester. The Kappas have a good mix of sisters and brothers.

James Madison U
Sisters: 4
Brothers: 48

The sisters are all female, but a co-ed chapter.
The brothers are a good mix.

BUT.... our single sex chapters at HBCU's are STRONG. They turn out IN FORCE to events and have so much spirit. Being single sex makes them stronger! Yes we all have a bond of music, BUT... having a gender bond can make an org stronger.

ALSO - Why does TBS not recruit males easily?
Well, think... if you are a male, would you want to join a sorority?! No. You wouldnt want to be called a sister. If you had a choice, you would rather be a brother of a fraternity. Women can go either way, cos we really dont care...

Being co-ed has hurt many TBS chapters, and "forcing" single sex chapters at schools to go co-ed would just encourage Tau Beta Sigma chapters to fold.

From a sisters side here... these are my views and judging from things happening in the NED, this is what I see happening. And when this was brought to our attention at NED Convention and the delegates were asked for questions - they wanted to ask the KKPsi coucil - the coucil declined to talk.

I just want to say - Does Kappa Kappa Psi really want to be the reason that Tau Beta Sigma folds nationally? Do you really want to be the ones to go up to Wava and say "Sorry, but we just needed to take over" Schools benefit from both orgs, and again - this is an NED view here - Most KKPsi chapters - ours included - hand out many many many bids to the band... get MC's and then think "Oh wait, we dont like this person..." they think QUANTITY over QUALITY....

Again, just my $19.46
