Wow, pretty broad question. To answer your question....

The weather is most definately better than Michigan, bad winter weather is pretty much unheard of and the summers are hot and humid. The question really is which part are you going to be in. The are three major areas mountains/upstate which is more progressive, the midlands, and the coast. As far as schools, the public school system sucks and is like last in the nation, but the colleges are on point. In relation to jobs and the best places to live, I would say Charleston, Columbia, or Greenville. I would avoid the northern coastal areas (Myrtle Beach and the Pee Dee) like the plague because the job market there is horrible unless you are in the tourism industry. Last but not least, the Greek life is southern just like the culture....
