Love me soem NOLA

I have been there 5 times now and its awesome. I keep goign back. Theres actually a few threads on this topic already. As for a place to stay, to me NOLA has 3 areas, downtown (which includes the french quarter, uptown, the garden district and the nice older homes and everywhere else, (west bank, Metarrie, Kenner, et al.) The quarter is cool to stay in, but I am more of a garden district kinda kid. The columns hotel is my vote. Its a great place to sty, but also has a trendy bar inside and can get a little loud. My reccomendation is to ask for a room away from the bar and balcony.

Columns Hotel
3811 St. Charles Ave.
New Orleans, Louisiana 70115
United States
Tel: 800-445-9308
Fax: 504-899-8170
Rooms: 29
General price range: US$ 75 - 125

Beautiful, and right on the streetcar line that for $1.25, will take you almost to the quarter (its a 5 block walk from Canal, the end of the street car line). But be on notice, You'll prolly have to cab it back (10- 15 bucks) because the steetcars arent real reliable after 10 pm or so. Its amazing tho.

I miss NOLA

As for Food - Jack Dempsy's on Poland St. Teh best southern style I have ever had and is a favorite of locals too.
