On the initiation outfit thread

I've asked the mods to delete it.

A few people posted what I think was a bit too much detail about their rituals and ritual garb.

The intent of my question wasn't to ask what types of robes, costumes, vaseline in your hair (ick!), etc. people wear at initiation. That's private information and I respect that.

I was really trying to ask what different GLOs' whites/jewelry/hair/makeup requirements might be, and what fraternity men might wear to initiation (since they'd probably look pretty silly in white dresses ). Your new member educator hands you a list of things to wear or not wear to initiation - what's on it? You run into a friend on the street who says "I'm on my way to initiation" - what is she wearing? (Notice I say to initiation, not at initiation.)

To those of you who were bothered by the thread, I apologize.

Apology accepted. Personally I am uncomfortable with anyone revealing anything associated with their ritual at all. Including attire.

When you talk about such things you are disregarding the opinions of all of your brothers or sisters regarding revealing certain details. I think that is wrong. I'm sure that if you went from chapter to chapter you'd find many who would object to revealing anything at all.

Kudos for trying to cut if off before it went too far.

It's one thing discussing things that are pretty open and obvious and no one tries to hide- like wearing white. I found just the little differences interesting.

Hell, our last National Convention there's like 1000 of us wandering around the Disney resort in white. Had to field a couple of stranger's questions as to what the heck was going on.

But getting very specific about other things that aren't as open and obvious make me squeamish....

AEPhiAlum, thank you so much. As I posted on the other thread, I know that our Executive Office is checking this site. Greek Chat does too much good to see another moratorium imposed on it!

I refuse to get into a flame war any further on the other thread. I will say that the ADPi who has said too much has been corrected, but she had no business speaking out in the first place.

I'm so glad to see some common sense and dignity from y'all!

AEPhialum,
I know you didn't mean to start a riot on here. Thanks for asking for it to be closed.
