With austerity, state budget cuts and all, I'm surprized there are any trays left on the West Green and Baker Center. They're probably all in Jeff cafeteria by now. Nobody ever walked back UP the hill with them.
We were doing that in the 60's, too.
Our daughter (OU Class of 99) and her husband went back with me to Homecoming this year. She and hubby did the shuffle. While they were shuffling, I was having a beer in a bar on Union Street when the "110's" drumline came in and did their cadences. Pretty impressive. And LOUD! A young woman with a pitcher walked down the line pouring beer in each drummers mouth while he/she played.
I don't think any of them were Delts, so I didn't check ID's.
When I drove her to Ohio the first time, we watched the Marching 110 march down Jeff hill in a tight block formation and then serenade the East Green. That was pretty impressive, too. And they all survived.
Finally, in the late 60's, they almost repaved Court and Union Streets because some of the bricks were being used as ammunition during anti-war and other riots. They did re-pave the sidewalks on the College Green. Thankfully, those sidewalks have been returned to brick since then since they're part of what gives the original part of campus much of its charm.
There must be other pub crawl stories in the country???
