I know that there was a sorority on my campus that had very stringent policies, handed down by their nationals, that said they had to terminate anyone who didn't pay their dues (I don't think they had any sort of special status - they were either active or terminated). One of my friends was terminated from the house and still hung out with the sisters, went to the house, etc - I got the feeling that the sisters thought it was BS they had to terminate her. So if it's not your sorority, I would not worry about it - it's their issue to work out.
