I think during the first few weeks of my pledging, I was concerned with whether or not I made the right choice. It's very clear now that I did. XOMichelle said it right, "Obviously there are ups and downs to any group," but I would never trade the sisterhood and friendships I have found within Alpha Gam.

First off, Billy You are a Letch! Young but still one, cannot fault you for that! Wait till you become an Old Letch when you have underwear in the chestadrawer older than the ones you look at!

Hey Main, we need to have a Tod Together, belly up to the bar so to spake! Lets work on it!

Being the New Kid On the block is never easy. You are in a situation with people you do not know and are getting things that you may not like to do, just like home with Mom and Pop!

You will have more life long situations than you cannot fathom now!

I have had realationships with Brothers from 1965 and Brothers whom have come after me up to 2002 and hopefully many more years to come!

This can be you! It is the best time of life!

I'm going to go against a lot of the grain here and say, yes, I sometimes wonder. On a national level, I definitely think AXD is the organization I believe in most. But I've had to go through the heartbreak of seeing my chapter shrink and close, and that hurts. I wonder, if I had joined my second choice org, which is doing quite well, how would I feel today? To see my sisters doing well, succeeding at rush and Greek Week and the rest?

Then I look again. That second choice org, while thriving, is not the same group it was when I was rushing. I still couldn't brag about my sisters winning Greek Week, because they don't anymore! And more importantly, I look at the couple of girls who dropped out of what would have been my pledge class to join other GLOs. I think, honestly, if I had gone there, I would have depledged as well - I wouldn't have been personally ready to deal with some of the stuff as a rather immature 18-year-old. (I was a rather young 18.) And I don't think I would have gone elsewhere. So I wouldn't even be Greek today.

So that leads me around back to where I am today, and what I have realized is that out of struggles come opportunities, and I still have the opportunity to leave my org better than I found it when I leave this world. Just because my chapter is closed doesn't mean my opportunity is.

I would probably not have been Greek had I not been given the chance to help start a new chapter.

Organizations on my campus are still very 'old-school' so to speak. Out of 5 fraternities on campus before I came on... One lost recognition because of alchohol violations, 2 have had their charters suspended by their HQ for hazing, the other 2 haze -- one of our brothers depledged one of them to be a Sigma Nu -- after bad hazing experiences... and the other we live close to so we are 1st hand witnesses to their yelling at their pledges (which you can hear a block away when they do it) and their 4AM runs... They also require them to keep a Madagascar Cockroach with them for a week which they later eat... I'm perfectly happy with my choice

I'll go with the opposite of what FuzzieAlum said.... yes, I sometimes do wish I had gone with a different organization - specifically, an NPC sorority (or a social local).

I love my collegiate chapter to death, but our organization on an inter/national level just doesn't resonate with me. Our inter/national organization is based in music, which I really have no interest in.

However, I am getting a second chance through Beta Sigma Phi! Thanks to my fellow Greek Chatters I was introduced to this wonderful organization, that does truly speak to me on a national level (and with the possibility of starting a local chapter, DEFINITELY on the local level!)

Talking

I went through Rush week bouncing from one to the other (we have a small campus and only have 2 womens fraternities) and when it came to bid day, I closed my eyes and went with the first face that came to mind. I closed my eyes and saw the face of my eventual-to-be Big Sis and went DG. It was one of the best decisions I made in my life. I knew if I closed my eyes and listened to my (i know, corny corny) heart, I would make the right decision, and I did!

No regrets -- I was Pi Phi or Die from day 1!
However...when I went through rush 4 of our 6 houses were in dorms, and 2 were on Greek row in houses with the fraternities. The two on greek row were the other two that were my top choices as well as Pi Phi, and while Pi Phi was my first choice when it came down to it, I was always a little envious about the housing thing and thought "what if" on occasion.
Of course, now that we too have a house on greek row (which is SO GREAT!!!) too, there are no what ifs! I'm glad that I went with my heart and chose the right org for me rather just a place where I would sleep for 1 year...

I'd like to echo the sentiments of what someone said earlier. I LOVE Tri Sigma, am "Faithful Unto Death". BUT, I would have loved to go to another school. In retrospect, I regret my college choice. BUT, on the other hand, I wouldn't have been a founding sister of my chapter. So, 6 of one, 1/2 a dozen of another...
