It's not so much your nails themselves as what they mean. If you keep yourself well as opposed to being sloppy. They don't need to be perfect, just neat. It's not classy to have jagged nails with bits of polish on it, it just doesn't look clean. This is going back to what zetagirly said about rush being like a job interview.
