Love it!
I was too young to remember Reagan. I just read about him later and when I saw the “R” next to his name, I was like, Yep. Makes sense.

What I came over here to say is I got my 25 year high school reunion notice in the mail. Aye yai yai! I can’t believe I’ve been out of high school for 25 years. Gawd! I’m old.

I had the best “we’re not going to extend a job offer” ever yesterday. The company gave the job to an internal candidate. Basically, they asked my permission to continue to try to hire me because they liked me so much. I’ve never gotten more than the generic “we’re not going to hire you” email from other jobs, so all hope is not lost. Yay, me.
So AmIblue 2.0 (aka my daughter) is headed to college in the fall. She is iffy on going through recruitment, but she thinks that I want her to do so. I legitimately don’t want her to unless she wants to, but I also think that having the relationships sororities provide is a good thing. I’m just asking for parenting advice and how to proceed cautiously.

All these other states ICE been to, folks in those states seemed to have complied. But Minnesota? I’m reading that ICE wasn’t prepared for the resistance there. I’m watching the news now. Minnesota looks like a civil war zone. Damn.

First: please keep us posted on your employment status, it sounds promising.
Second: your current continued honesty in conversations with amIblue2, regarding her future recruitment possibilities and connections, is a good move. Your daughter's curiosity now gives her information to make focused and timely decisions on her own about the subject once she's on campus.
I know you realize it is her life decision to make, and hope her listening skills bring her to all the realizations of your desires for her future.

Back before these assholes showed up in our state, I’d ask my hubby if he wanted to go to the grocery store with me, and if he was busy working, he’d tell me to go ahead without him. Now, with this ICE drama, he won’t let me leave the house unless he’s with me because he knows I have a mouth, lol.

I have a job, so this is just icing as far as improved salary and opportunities to advance. Currently, I’d have to wait for my same-age manager to retire to love up, and I honestly don’t want that job. I’m content, but not going to turn down more $$ for a good opportunity.
As far as my daughter and sorority life goes, she has gone to the house with me while I was advising. She knows that it has been important to me, but she will not listen to me when I tell her I don’t care if she joins a sorority or not. All of her schools do deferred recruitment, so she has time to be on campus and decide. I don’t want her to rush if she is only doing it because she thinks I want her to. I guess I ‘ll just keep reminding her that it’s her decision.
