^^^ Although it's ok to check back for a few posts in either thread to make sure your answer doesn't repeat a recent, connected answer.

Ah, yes, my old rush mistake . A little background:

In pledge days of yore, neophytes were given tasks to complete for points to earn toward a goal of initiation. Such tasks included but were not limited to: having Coffee Dates with every sister in the chapter; decorating a Pledge Book for said sisters to sign; carefully carrying Pledge Book AT ALL TIMES incase an initiated sis saw you and asked to see it; guarding same Pledge Book with your life incase a fraternity man saw it and tried to steal it (you'd have to do some crazy things for him and his bros to get it back!); getting the signature of the president of each campus fraternity; attending seven weekly study hours; spending four hours of Homecoming Week pimping the outside of your sorority house and/or decorating your Homecoming Parade float; you get the idea.

I surely wasn't the first pledge back then to feel afraid I would never make it to initiation due to my failure at some task. Many of those listed tasks are called HAZING now, no longer required of today's New Members (formerly known as Pledges).

One day back then, a sorority was working their COB Rush station in the student union. It was my Aunt's sorority, UWM! I wanted to know more about the UWM group on my campus, and was feeling I'd never make to initiated status in my own group.

So, I spoke with a few of the UWM women without telling them I was already a pledge to PDQ. Our rush conversation ran smoothly until their advisor joined us, inquiring my reasons for wanting to join. I boldly told her I was looking for a different sorority to join because I didn't feel I'd measure up to mine, so I was looking for another one "just in case".

The UWM advisor was more kind to me than I deserved, and I never tried pledge another group again. i eventually successfully initiated into my PDQ home.
