It was interesting to learn that 8, or 30%, of the 26 NPC Sororities were founded in New York State:
Alpha Epsilon Phi
Alpha Gamma Delta
Alpha Omicron Pi
Alpha Phi
Delta Phi Epsilon
Gamma Phi Beta
Sigma Delta Tau
Phi Sigma Sigma.
Syracuse was an early promoter of higher education for women in New York State and 3 groups, known as the Syracuse Triad, were founded there; Alpha Phi, Gamma Phi Beta and Alpha Gamma Delta. AOII and AEPhi were founded at Barnard. DPhiE was founded at NYU, Phi Sigma Sigma was founded at Hunter College and SDT was founded at Cornell.
