You and your brother could have started a legacy but went with the Nopes instead. Sad. Y’all messed up what could have been a good thing, PB Lol.

Do you think your kids will go Greek when they get to college?
At 6 and 8, it’s too early to tell. But probably.

WIFLSRN: “Scrubs & Beyond” is the best. I was so in need.

And the second thing I feel like saying right now: Boeing is in big trouble. Not that they won’t recover, but yikes!

This summer should be a fun, road tripping one. Will be doing some famous car touring, plus other site seeing, and just the drive alone will be memorable. First car stop I’m really excited to see is a part from James Dean’s 550. That’s the main attraction I really want to see.

That’s the dude that got killed in a crash, isn’t it? A car part? Why not the whole car? This would be a cool historical sites thread starter.

Yeah, he ran into a 1950 Ford Tudor. The original wrecked 550 was stolen. There’s a part in some other state on display and the transaxle in another, which is what I’m road tripping to see. There are a lot of kit cars or replicas on display in other museums of his Porsche, but I’m not interested in seeing those. I like original. I wish I could see his 356, too, but that’s also MIA.

Let me get this straight, PB. You’re taking an assuming long ass road trip to see a car part, because the actual car was stolen? You really do love you some cars dude. It’s a part. Why? Just why? Lol

It’ll be a nice, needed family vacation, so the cars are a very small part of it. As for the transaxle, it’s part of the 550 he bought new. He only had it a few days before he lost his life in it. The thing with Dean is his taste in cars mirrors mine. I find that to be extraordinary for that time period. That was a time when Americans didn’t even know what a sports car was, with the country pretty much being new to the market with the Corvette, at the time. He had a really keen eye for European cars, particularly those with good handling and speed (for the time period). He owned two Porsches, one of which he traded in for the 550 he was killed in, a Triumph, and an MG. Like me, he’d go through cars like water. I don’t nearly as much now, but I did back in the day — 20 years ago.

I get you love automotive history, but damn, a part? Lol. For the last 20 years, how many cars did you go through vs. him? Did he have the same MG you have? How long are you keeping that one?

I had a Boxster (used) because of James Dean’s 550 that I was so enamored with. Sold it and bought an S2000 (new). Sold that and got a Z4 (new. had that one a long time). Sold that for the STi (new) I currently drive.

No, James Dean had an MG TD. I think his was a 53, to my knowledge. Mine is a 1948 TC. Yeah, I’m keeping the MG. I enjoy taking it to classic car shows. There’s only one of two cars and one pickup truck I really want that I’d sell it to get and that’s a Series 1 Esprit, an 84 Carrera, preferably with the Turbo look, or a 56 F100. I see one of those at a good price, my TC is gone.

ETA: Dean also had a 1949 Ford he drove before he got all those other cars.

What’s up with the CEO of United Healthcare getting murdered? I remember seeing he was shot show up on my Apple Watch, but didn’t pay much attention to it. Now it’s like all over the news. Why was he shot? Does anyone know something I don’t?

James Dean was on my celebrity crush list in the “Celebrity Crush” thread.

Funny how most of my celebrity crushes in that thread are either old or dead.

I don't think anyone knows until they find and interrogate the suspect, but there seems to be a lot of discussion about United Health Care being a less than patient friendly insurance provider...like they deny a lot of procedures, are obstructive and overly focused on profit, etc. I think there is speculation that he was targeted for retribution.

Dude, I know diddly about cars. What are these? The ones you would sell your MG for.

They found the backpack last I saw.

That’s what I was thinking, too. That’s actually the first thing that came to mind was that maybe he had a loved one that died because they might have denied a certain procedure or something.

Have y’all seen what folks have been saying? They’re showing no condolences to the CEO. I’ve seen comments ranging from “Unfortunately, my condolences are out of network” to “Prior authorization is required for thoughts and prayers” to “I can’t even pretend to care, I hope he’s looking up at us” to “When you make millions off the suffering of others, don’t expect sympathy” to other comments I saw. I actually don’t disagree with their comments, but at the same time, I don’t feel dude should have been killed over it. He’s got a family to support, too.

Another part of me feels like these medical workers and doctors to really give a shit nowadays. They get you in and out, while taking your money at the same time. This is in no offense to CG and aggieAXO, but when I decided against getting my cat declawed, they told me I had to make a separate appointment to get her looked at, which I thought was going to be pushed out another month like all my appointments for my dog and cat have been. Lucky for me, it was just a couple of weeks. Then when I finally get in there, it’s literally 5 minutes of work for the vet, she bounces and says “Your pet is healthy, have a nice day.” I paid $78.00 for a 5 minute checkup. This vet is better than my last one. That vet didn’t give a damn. Told me my dog was all good, but I later found out he had fleas all that time. I told y’all about all the other things he had going on. But that’s all fixed now, but I’m felling like my money is being taken, after waiting over a month to see a vet, only to get a 5 minute checkup.

Not the same as human healthcare issues, but the lack of care seems to be the same.
