Mischu, I am poli sci as well. I graduate this June.
in my years as a poli sci major (at Northeastern- a 5 yr school- we do "co-op")
I currently work for the U.S. Dept of Labor Employment and Tranining Administration, where I specialize in Foreign Labor Certification. I work with labor regs, immigration law, involves writing, communication with employers/states/attorneys.
This summer I interned as a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Intern for Congressman John Conyers, Jr. My advice: every poli sci student should be exposed to Washington DC. Working with the Congressional Black Caucus and Foundation was also an excellent "Networking" experience. Here is a link for the CBCF

I have also worked for the City of Cambridge Conservation Commission (worked on environmental public policy issues and exposed me to local gov't); prior to entering college, i interned for U.S. Environmental Protection Agency- my first exposure to bureacratic environment...but ended up being a connection to the City job.
Also while in school I had the opportunity to be personal assistant to former Governor Dukakis.
most of my experience and interest had been in public sector/public administration.
HOWEVER, i am currently preparing to take the LSATs! so we shall see how that goes.
i am also a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the poli sci national honorary society.
Political Science is great. It helps in the development of Critical Thinking and Writing. You don't have to enter a career in law or government, or foreign service,though that is what i have seen most people with our major pursue.
Also, it IS about WHO you know to get to show what you know
