Despite the Risks, Sorority Rush Will Go On

An article from Vulture on the various mutations of the sorority recruitment process in the age of Covid. Surprisingly, recruitment registration is up at many schools, with special mention of the SEC. Of course no story on sororities would be complete without mentioning all the evils of Greek life. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Despite the Clear Risks, Sorority Rush Will Go On at Some Schools This Fall

Rush events often involve crowding together inside, up-close conversations, and even singing, all activities that health experts have specifically warned the public to avoid during the pandemic.

I don’t see the problem with this article. It’s reckless to be hosting any in-person recruitment activities during this pandemic - and especially reckless to not require masks for in-person events. Kudos to the campuses who let science guide their decisions.

I agree. Shocking the schools that are doing in-person, much less no mask required. That's reckless and quite frankly if I had a daughter, I wouldn't let her rush under those conditions. It's unfathomable that any school would take the risk (and take on the liability) of letting students rush without at least wearing a mask. It says that the Univ. of South Carolina is doing both in-person AND no mask (even thought they're doing temp checks, etc.) and sharing meals....huh???
