I was talking to my partner about this today!! In January I was coughing non-stop, running a fever, had no sense of taste or smell. I was so sick one day that I was too sick to watch television while I laid on the couch! We wonder the same thing- did I have it in January?

When I get sick, it's always just a bad cold. But this was different, and I had exactly what you described here. I ended up going to urgent-care because of the persistent cough and heavy feeling in my chest when I'd go to work or out for a walk. They prescribed me cough medicine - said for a dry cough, the over-the-counter stuff doesn't truly work. It helped. But I was still tired, achy, no appetite, and I nearly passed out twice on my way to work on the subway and turned around and went back home. I don't know if I ever had a fever, but they took my temperature at urgent-care and said it was in the "normal range".
Many people have been saying they were sick in the same way in January and February and wonder if coronavirus started here earlier than initially reported.
In other news, my mom is finally starting to feel better. She still has the same symptoms, but they're much less severe and she thinks she's finally starting to bounce back. We're all hopeful the worst is over!

And as others have indicated, this thing has been floating around for several months, with most infected thinking they had a bad flu. We probably had it in mid Feb. -- we where down for the count, longer than any flu we have had in the past.

I agree and think it would be unfair for anyone to imply that they caught it in Cabo (and I don't think thetalady is saying that). It seems to me that one or more of the 70 people in the chartered plane probably had it at home in Texas, took it with them to spring break, and spread it to the rest of the group. So, in reality, they probably put their Mexican hosts at risk more than anything else. And, yes, the kids who caught it from their travel companions are now taking it back home to their families and communities.

My daughter also had a very bad bronchitis turned into pneumonia that didn't respond to antibiotics just before Christmas. They had her on all her asthma meds, nebulizer meds, and steroids and she kept telling me it was not like anything she's had before because usually the nebulizer and steroids loosen up her cough so it's productive. It was never productive. She was first at the doctor on December 18th and flew home December 20th. I had her in urgent care on the 22nd when she got the steroids. It was bad.
It will be most helpful to our society getting back to functioning when they can test for antibodies to see who has had it and is already resistant. When people have tested positive with no symptoms, it's really impossible to know.

How is she doing now? I know she is back working and you were planning a cruise. Praying her health has improved.

I have a huge amount of compassion for those people that are being infected and sickened by these thoughtless young people. Do I have compassion for people who deliberately and intentionally refused to follow advice about travel and social distance? Nope. They knew the risks and not only did not care about themselves, they didn't care about anyone else. I didn't say I hoped they would die.

Wow-she's a piece of work. Her parents must be, undoubtedly, so proud.

Oh no!! I hope she's doing OK!!!
As for our convention, my understanding is that IHQ is making the decision on May 1. I'm already registered, but there are three others going from my alumnae group that are waiting to see what happens.

My daughter is fine now. She's working from home, going for long isolated walks daily and calls me during those walks so we 'hang out' a lot. Yeah, our cruise is definitely not happening this year.

That is what I hear also. This will be my first in a long time that I wasn't planning on attending. I've pretty much retired from volunteering (after 30 years!) although I'm my alumnae club president, I just wasn't going to be able to spare the vacation time because of the cruise to Italy and Greece I was supposed to take! Hopefully some day!

In Maryland, we don't have 100% shutdown, going out hiking in the county parks is fine as long as you keep to the 6 foot rule. My wife and I geocache, which means not only are we on the trails, sometimes we are off of them to the middle of nowhere looking for things at specific lat/long coordinates. OTOH, some of the geocache locations have been shutdown if they are at high traffic areas like playgrounds.

Two brain cells. Something needs to keep the first brain cell company.
Stay the fuck at home, y'all.
