I am with you on that - our daughter got a house that she did not originally see herself in but they are going to be a great group to get to know - And honestly come on, where else can you find a huge mansion to live in, surrounding yourself by over 100 women your same age, with similar aspirations and goals, to get a great education and make friends. They don’t have to grocery shop, don’t have to shovel their sidewalk, the bus stop is within walking distance, I mean really what more could you ask for? This is all going to work out great. They were smart to give the chapter that liked them a chance.

The recruitment process can be brutal. I remember the pain of being released by my favorite chapters, but ultimately falling in love with the one that extended me a bid. Your daughter is potentially my sister now, from the fact that many are not willing to give us a chance. My best friend's chapter is usually treated similarly, and I have several friends in another chapter that is considered "less desirable." We all had absolutely amazing experiences, and I really hope that your daughter makes new friends and enjoys her time in the chapter.

True on most fronts minus the mansion, grocery shopping and 100 women. But excited nonetheless.

Then she is my sister! I'm glad to hear she enjoyed bid night, and I can personally say that I love each and every woman in the chapter. I sincerely hope she can have the experience that I did, as I miss my time there dearly!

I'm proud that my daughter, while disappointed, is looking at this as a chance to meet a different group of women and get involved. I'm glad my daughter is one who is willing to give them a chance.

Your daughter sounds very mature, smart and like someone who will be an excellent member for her new chapter. I hope she sticks with it and finds a lot of happiness with her sisterhood.

I'm glad that she is giving the chapter a chance, and that she had a really nice time with them on Bid Day. Going and giving them a chance was a mature move on her part.
I hope that she continues to give them a chance. All the chapters at IU have wonderful women in them, and for the most part the Greek experience tends to be similar across different chapters.
Remember to remind her that these girls wanted her to be their sister and saw something special in her.
Hope it works out!

There is one chapter at IU that remains unhoused, which had well over 100 women in Spring 2018.
The one chapter that had fewer than 100 women now has a house.
Unless something has massively changed in one semester, your daughter should have at least one of these two.

I am glad to hear these young ladies did get bids, but sorry hear that it didn't turn out as they had originally hoped Our hearts break when theirs do, and we have to dig deep and find words to lift them up. I know you are loving them up and giving them comfort as us moms do. They are showing strength of character by rolling with it, and I hope that later they end up finding it the start of something wonderful. There are so many great stories on this site giving testimony to just such outcomes.

My misunderstanding. Based on the number in her pledge class I thought the number was lower.

Glad to see that so many are willing to give their new home a chance, and that so many received bids.
And I admit that I'm thrilled for Alpha Delta Pi, and the six legacies! Boom Boom!

Glad to hear she enjoyed the first night with her chapter. You should be very proud of her. To persevere through disappointment shows strength of character, maturity and strong self esteem, traits that are not universally shared. She will be meeting other women with those same admirable qualities. Best of luck as she begins this journey.
