I can remember the first time I saw a video of a door chant - complete with the hair tossing - and was horrified. Each campus has its own trends, and one accepts them as they are, IMHO.

Same here. It seems to be the standard many places. I was told (but not sure if this is true) that it's a Panhellenic rule. One more of the changes - at least on campuses I'm familiar with - to "equalize" houses. No more fun skit parties or matching outfits, that kind of thing.
Anyone know if this is universal or specific to some schools?

"No frills" recruitment, as it's often called. Many schools with NPC sororities have implemented this over the last decade or so. There are some restrictions made by the NPC, but many schools take it a step further in what they're now eliminating from recruitment parties and practices.

I think he goes to school at Arizona State. The other guy, who says he was in Greek life, graduated from Wisconsin this year and was an active member of SAE and gave a tour of his fraternity house on YouTube - link below.
