Just rushed at SMU and you should definitely have recs. At least 1 each, but 2-3 per chapter is great if you can get any additional letters. They should be in by the fall, but you have at least six months so don't get too freaked out!
My biggest piece of advice for rushing at SMU is to get involved on campus as early as you can - Student Foundation, Program Council, club sports, commons council, etc - this is really the best way to meet sorority women.
