Every DTD Chapter That Ever Existed

This information was collected from "The Men of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity" and other various sources.

Few things to note:
  • I'm not perfect and may have made some mistakes, there are a few things I couldn't find anywhere and if you know of some gaps I left out, or any incorrect date let me know and I will do my best to keep this as updated as possible...hopefully as more colonies receive their charters! During my research, I discovered some obvious errors in the The Men of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, so it's records and this list are not identical. I only changed dates that I know were incorrect and if I was able to verify the correct year.
  • If a chapter name has a prime by it that means it was originally the "XYZ" chapter but due to closing so early in the fraternity's history, it was replaced by another school. It was common for the fraternity to reshuffe chapter designations early on in the fraternity's early years, so many designations appear to be out of order according to their charter year. Example: Gamma Prime was West Liberty College which closed 3 years after the fraternity itself was founded, the title of Gamma Chapter later went to Washington & Jefferson College and has held it ever since. This "prime" tradition ends with Beta Iota, and every chapter thereafter has kept its name.

Impressive. The pledge manual has a full roll but its a bit dated. Few things to add:
  • Iota Lambda (Tampa) was chartered in 2009. Just spoke to one of their guys today actually.
  • Iota Mu is to be Quinnipiac University's chapter name. They were originally supposed to colonize in February or March of this year but were delayed by something (finances, I believe it was, but don't quote me) and are currently shooting for later this year or early 2011. (Source: Quinnipiac Delt I met at UIFI). I find it rather interesting as a historical quirk that they're going to be named one before my chapter but chartered after.

Ok, if you are a history buff and love Delt (Im the same way), you will love this link, http://delts.org/road/newmemberedchapter4.html. It is a list of PDF files from Sing to the Royal Purple 1989. Way.... more history than in the Men of Delta Tau Delta. It actually answers a few of the badge questions asked on here before and addresses very interesting info that for some reason isnt retold anymore. Enjoy Brothers.

Well FIT got chartered as Iota Xi, but for some reason I'm not given the option to edit my first post. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Edited for the end of the academic year. University of Vermont was chartered today as Iota Pi. Congratulations to those men!

Overall this was a fantastic expansion year for Delt I would say. Our team must've been working very hard and doing a great job. So many charters granted and new colonies. Looks like next year should be a great one as well. I believe Delt is planning to recolonize at Iowa, our Omicron chapter. I've also heard we will be returning to Maryland and Virginia, and starting a colony at Louisville. Four great schools already!

Just found an account in THE NY TIMES of a gathering of 400+ Delts on August 23, 1905 at the Hotel Astor in NY City. Attending were fraternity founders Hunt, Lowe and Johnson, and another early (1858) initiate at West Liberty College (in VA...then WV) named John Russell Thornton. It was the first time that the three founders had seen each other in 56 years, back at Bethany College in WV (then VA). Thornton was an original initiate of the DTD Gamma Prime chapter, and was Initiate #9, according to the national fraternity data base.

A further note and addition to your chapter list: the Delta Upsilon chapter at the U. of Delaware had its charter suspended back in the early 1990's, but as of last year, it has has been reinstalled.
