You probably have a fraternity manual - either in your hand or online - that should give you plenty of ideas.

I just want to make the rituals more enjoyable for my sisters. I know how to make the rituals the way they have to be but I want to make them even better. How? incentives for showing up?

^^^ "Incentives for showing up" puzzles me. Ritual events are mandatory for us. Is it possible that there is someone at your HQ who helps with ritual-related questions? We have a Ritual Committee and they are amazing at sharing information and ideas on how to make ritual meaningful and relevant. Is that what you're hoping for?

Zetas, please pardon the lane swerve; Ritual is something I've always loved and for which I have a great deal of passion. I think the Ritualist/Chaplain (what have you) is the most important officer in every chapter. She/he really sets the tone for the chapter, in my opinion.

The word mandatory is considered hazing at our university so we can are stuck between a rock and a hard place. We find ladies for not showing up but then the university gets involved. I agree with the fact that ritual chair is the most important but this is not the case in my chapter. She has be disregarded and not respected in the past. With my new position I want to bring that importance back to our chapter. Help!

So you don't have to go to chapter meeting, recruitment, etc?

Wow, what? I wish "mandatory" was considered hazing at my job. That way I could not show up and they'd still have to pay me.

If the university really is preventing you from deeming anything mandatory, the national offices of the Greek orgs need to step in. I'm guessing the athletic teams have practices they must attend - if so, the university has no leg to stand on with this "nothing is mandatory" jazz.

I would strongly recommend talking to an advisor or someone at Zeta headquarters. Ritual really cannot be toyed with. My single letter chapter had a really cool variation on initiation that had been done that way since forever. When the rules changed that initiation had to happen during daylight, the hammer came down over the catsuits and hover boards. No playing with ritual!

I would definitely see if you have a ritual & fraternity specialist from Zeta HQ, or a similar position, that can work with you and give you some ideas. Organization HQs are there to help their chapters - they often have many resources available to do so. I would definitely utilize those resources.

This.

Don't mess with elderly women who have donned the catsuits!

I really enjoy ritual, but it is getting so hard to get that darn cat suit on! There just isn't enough baby powder sometimes. I might introduce a rule proposing Snuggies instead at our next convention.

I know my good friend and former college roomie will be upset about the purple catsuits with gold unicorn designs being made an issue.
