I also don't believe that we're in a hopeless situation overall. We do advance, but only if we take advantage of educational and other opportunities. I certainly don't want to imply that we're hopeless.
Sorry, I wasn't directing that at you personally. My apologies if it came off that way.

I think that part of the problem is that today's generation of people don't know how to handle money. That is Black and White people. Most "professional" people are still living paycheck to paycheck, albeit a big paycheck. People are still holding on to old ideas about money and how to make it. But the harder you work the more the government takes in taxes, so people have to be smarter in how they make money.

Most people often don't take advantage of the stock market or real estate market b/c they are afraid of losing money. Instead of learning about money we just continue to work harder for it and end up in the mid to upper middle class which are the highest tax brackets. (People who are actually rich pay as little as they can in taxes) Like I said this is an American problem, but Black people are hit harder b/c due to our enslavement we started later.

Black people are at a further disadvantage b/c only a small percentage of our population has had money long enough to pass down.

so my next question is how do we empower ourselves? the first thing i think of is securing our own futures.

if you were fired tomorrow how long can you live on you investments/savings/etc. b4 you have to find another job. the father of a friend of mine quit his prestigious job at a well known company b/c of racism. he was able to live for a year and a half b4 having to find another job.

now most of us don't have long dough like that but there are small things that we can do so that we won't be going up a creek w/o a paddle.

any thoughts on how we can better ourselves?
