Aw, I love hearing all the proposal stories. Here's mine:
Like KappaStargirl, we had the church and hall reserved before we were engaged. Come to that, we also bought (and subsequently renovated) a townhouse before we were engaged! Although it was unspoken, I pretty much knew he was going to propose on our trip to Europe last December...I just didn't know where or when.
Well, we get to Paris and after checking into our hotel, decide to go out for a walk. We end up at the Champs-Elyses and go up to the Arc de Triomphe. It was my second time to Paris, his first, so he was doing all the oohing and ahing while I just watched him enjoying the sights.
So we're walking around the top of the Arc when suddenly he stops. So, I stop. He then takes out a handkercheif. Now, the day before, he had borrowed it from my dad. At the time, I thought that was wierd (Mr RedRose NEVER uses a handkerchief) but decided not to say anything it somehow figured into his proposal plans.
Anyway, back to the Arc. He pulls out the hankie, at which point I think to myself "Oh, I guess I was wrong...I guess he's going to blow his nose." I ask him what it's for. He says "This? It's for this..." and he sets it down on the cold, wet ground, kneels down on it, and proposes.
Needless to say, it was a magical moment! Now, everytime I see an image of the Arc, I think of us. Also, we love to travel, so for our wedding (which is in less than FOUR WEEKS! EEK!) we're giving leather luggage tags embossed with the Arc de Triomphe for favors. Our tables will have names of cities (instead of numbers), so you'll pick up your luggage tag and head off to Rio or London, or whever.
