Legacy Question
My daughter is going through a very competitive rush at FSU. I feel she didn't get a fair shot with some of the houses because she is a legacy. So many people have told me she has a red flag because of this. I feel she will end up in her legacy house regardless but it makes her recruitment experience not so great.

That has happened to many girls but it's worse when the legacy group cuts them too, leaving them nowhere to return.

I'm sorry.
A lot of people will not state their legacy sorority because of this. Some universities fix their software so that the legacy sorority can see it, but no other sorority can.
Of course, on recommendations it will be stated if the writer knows it.
As she goes to parties, she should tell her hostess that she is seeking an experience of her own and is not tied to her legacy sorority. Don't mention it first thing, but a little later in the conversation.

Oh. I forgot to add that she is a legacy at the same school and same chapter.

If she was a legacy through her sister, a lot of groups are going to assume that's where she would go, and even leaving her legacy status off the registration form might not have helped, because someone is going to see her last name and home address and say "oh,that's so and so the XYZ's sister. "

That's really frustrating - I'm sorry to hear that! I hope she finds a happy home in any case.

She is very excited about her legacy house so all will end well for her!! That number game stings on one side but is comforting on the other side. As my daughter said "you have to take the good with the bad!"
