I'm thrilled to see that so many women of color got bids! Going through NPC recruitment is much better than it was for my daughters 10 or so years ago.

^^^ you rock! Hoping that the Theta chapter will continue to grow and succeed (it's a fairly recent recolonization and we all know how challenging that can be in *cough* Alabama. If you weren't there since God was a baby, you suck).

Theta actually has the largest chapter on campus. It is my daughter's chapter and, just as she was on bid day in 2012, she cannot imagine herself anywhere else.

Well put, TNAuburnMom, thanks.
The recruitment process of Alabama's largest universities receives plenty of criticism, yet we have one of the highest placement rates in the country (especially for the large recruitments). We actually need more sororities to colonize (thinking of Bama) -- not more negative perceptions and stereotypes.

I'd like to see mine recolonize there, but there's nothing in the pipe (that I know of) about doing that.

My Rec girl was dropped after second round, but made sure to register for COB and has been (as she puts it) "probably irritating the head Panhellenic lady with all my questions."
She actually said that the woman told her another Chapter WILL be colonizing next year, but she didn't say who since it hasn't yet been made public. It would be nice to know that another Chapter is on campus giving even more young women the opportunity to go Greek.
If what she was told is true, I can't wait to know which Chapter it is! There are only a few left that it could be ... any guesses? =)

1) Did not know Auburn was open for expansion. Anyone else seen an announcement?
2) Kindly sharing that this is a common misperception/misconception. With RFM the system will accomodate all PNMs, if they follow the process all the way through (and barring any unforeseen issue that surfaces at the last minute which would make a PNM an unsuitable candidate for membership in any organization).
So it isn't a matter of giving more women the opportunity; rather, it might reduce new member class sizes. Then again, maybe not! But it will have no bearing on any PNM's opportunity to join a chapter. Of course, the invitations they receive may not be to their liking, but that's another discussion.
Hope this makes sense!

alphagam808, I know what you meant by your comment -- you probably weren't looking for a tutorial on RFM!
A chapter colonizing at Auburn next fall might be a great opportunity for your rec girl, especially since she will be a sophomore. When chapters colonize they often take more upperclassmen than sororities do during formal recruitment.
Good luck to your rec girl -- hope she finds her home!
***ETA: I just saw the recruitment story you posted and that she is already a sophomore -- all the more reason to hope for the colonization. Hope she becomes super involved on campus meanwhile and falls in love with her Auburn home!

My rec girl went Phi Mu at Auburn...not surprised, because her sister is a current Phi Mu at Alabama.
