Stanford: Alleged Sexual Assault by Ex-Swim Team Member

The young man who allegedly assaulted a young woman has reportedly dropped out of Stanford.

First of all: gold star for the two who chased him and held him for the police!

The rest is just tragic. But I'm struck by how these incidences spread past Greeks. It happened at a frat party at a frat house...but the guy was a non-Greek student and the young lady didn't even go there? I don't know why it's so baffling to me but...I don't have the words to describe it right now.

If you're looking for a party, fraternity house parties would seem to be pretty easy targets... particularly if the fraternity isn't be discriminating with who it allows in.

The one and only experience I had with a fraternity party that could have gone much worse if it hadn't been for the brothers intervening involved two dudes that weren't members... they just knew it would be a fairly easy place to find really drunk college gals.

I loathe to blame fraternities for the behaviors of non-members... but at some point there needs to be a serious conversation about risk management with these situations.

I guess that's what was getting to me. Frat party aside, it's still a PARTY. A party by itself draws such a mixture of people that it's easy for someone outside the assumed demographic (Greeks, students) to infiltrate that bubble and bring trouble with them. That realization shocked me but I know it shouldn't because it's such simple logic.
