Not at all sure where you guys would be coming from, but based on my own experiences on sisterhood retreats AND Nor Cal, what about a camping trip up in Yosemite? It is still warm enough to camp until at least mid to late October, it is beautiful up there, and probably not as expensive as some of the other options. Just a thought =).
