at penn state we have sorority floors and we have sororities living in east halls where the freshman typically are. our floor often gets filled by freshman. we are only alloted 20 rooms out of 28 because some of the sorority floors down in south halls only have 20 rooms on the floor. they do this to make it equal. we're never roomed with a random though. housing let's us have singles so it doesn't happen. i wouldn't be too worried about pledging a different sorority than aopi. chances are 2nd semester you'll be able to move on to your sorority's floor when some of the sister's go abroad and they need to fill spaces. also, we aren't allowed to pledge someone who is living on our floor. if they wind up in our sorority housing moves them. it has something to do with the possibility for hazing or something. i'm not too sure what the offical say is. i hope everything works out for you!
