Court reinstates suit against Saban's daughter

I don't know why the Grimes girl or her family would want it in the news either -- it's just embarrassing all the way around.

I would speculate that the reason the Grimes' claim wasn't just paid by Saban (even if for no other reason than to keep it out of the news) is that this might imply guilt on part of his daughter.

It appears that the Grimes girl was going after a lot more than just her medical deductibles (Grime's Complaint at end of this article):

74. As a result of the beating, the Plaintiff felt physically threatened
and suffered physical injuries, mental anguish, emotional distress, humiliation,
permanent emotional and psychological injury, and other damages for which she
claims compensatory and punitive damages.

WHEREFORE, PREMISES CONSIDERED, Your Plaintiff demands
judgment against the Defendant Kristen Saban for compensatory and punitive
damages in an amount which the Jury finds reasonable and justifiable under the
circumstances, plus costs and interest, but avers that the Plaintiff's claim is for more
than $10,000.00.

Looks like Saban followed later with a Motion for Summary Judgment, which was granted by the Alabama Circuit Court though denied on appeal to the AL Supreme Court.

Looks like a nasty she said/she said ahead.
