Some of us are hesitant, not because of rules, but because you have already been in an organization and are now looking to join something else. We are incredibly dedicated members and you seem rather cavalier about membership.

I would contact the Panhellenic office to be put on the COB list. While most chapters are likely at total now since recruitment was so large, it will be adjusted in just a couple days (I believe to average chapter size) so there will be spots open for COB. Whether chapters will choose to actually do any COB I don't know. Chapter houses are stuffed to the gills right now after such a large recruitment. Most people can't wait for Phi Mu to come back to help relieve some of the crowding (in addition to being excited about having them back in general).

If/When you do COB and it comes up you were in another non-NPC sorority, you will need to be clear about why you are no longer in that sorority. I agree with previous posters that sororities want dedicated members and it doesn't look too great that you quit one type of sorority and are now trying to join another.

Why were you unable to do formal recruitment?

These really aren't great excuses. Why would your family being out of town affect what you are doing at school? If you can't set aside a week for rush, which you knew was coming up far ahead of when your work schedule was made, then sorority life in general might not be doable for you.

How oh so very timely. Check out this thread.

You do know that IF you join a sorority, you will have to take off the week of recruitment PLUS (probably) the week before?
