Why were you unable to do formal recruitment?

Thanks! :)

Treat every single day on campus as if you are going through Recruitment! Dress appropriately (whatever that means on your campus), smile, be engaging and open to meeting new people, put yourself in situations where you meet sorority girls in positive ways (not bars...), follow-up on invitations and keep your grades up!

Have you spoken with anyone in the Greek Life office? You might be able to get on a COB list so that sororities know you are interested and have access to your contact info.

Do you have any friends in sororities at UW? If you do, you should ask if their sorority is holding any COB events.

These really aren't great excuses. Why would your family being out of town affect what you are doing at school? If you can't set aside a week for rush, which you knew was coming up far ahead of when your work schedule was made, then sorority life in general might not be doable for you.

Also, if this changes anything... I was previously in a sorority at UW (not Panhellenic, one of the smaller, minority-focused ones). Will that hurt or help my chances? Should I mention it at all on my COB/at events? I did a lot of leadership/volunteer work through it.

How oh so very timely. Check out this thread.

You are not considered a legacy.

You do know that IF you join a sorority, you will have to take off the week of recruitment PLUS (probably) the week before?

Griffins&Quills 09-11-2014 09:33 AM

^this

there are a LOT of time commitments associated with a sorority. But it's doable. But you do need to work out your schedule.

Typically you'll have to take off of work for recruitment week, and the week before (spirit week/polish week/work week), not to mention usually 1 night/week for chapter meetings

And that doesn't even include philanthropy events, socials, date nights, formals, etc.

You have already been in a sorority?

Wait. What?

^^^ it was non-NPC. She wrote this in an earlier post up thread.
