PSU recruitment sign-up breaks records
Number of women signed up for sorority recruitment at record number - 1740 this year, after last year's record of 1489.
Penn State recruitment is already a nightmare, with 18 sororities, no photos, few recs, and everything done while classes are in session (All day Sunday Open Houses, followed by three nights of 1st rounds, 2 nights of 2nd rounds, Preference and Bid Day).
There are 2 new sororities on campus - one, Phi Sigma Sigma - will be recruiting for the first time this fall, and we're missing two biggies - Tri Delt and ChiO, who were thrown off campus in the past few years for bad behavior. Which sucks, because two of my friends from those two groups have legacy daughters heading for Penn State in the next year or two.
They are projecting classes of 70-90 after a year when sororities were adjusting to "huge" (by PSU standards) classes of 50-60.

Holy crap!!! Too bad D Phi E can't bump up their colonization to, like, now.
I wonder what the class breakdown is?

WOW.
I have a younger cousin who is waffling on going through recruitment this year. I hope she does it.

Wow, go PSU!
Does Trilogy still continue to add new members - (I think that is what Tri Delta morphed into?)

Penn State Panhel
The Panhel at Penn State has 20 members, this includes Omega Phi Alpha (Service)and Sigma Alpha (Prof Agriculture) which is not NPC. The sororities in the NPC that are not currently present at Penn State are
Alpha Gamma Delta
Alpha Epsilon Phi
Alpha Sigma Tau
Chi Omega
Delta Delta Delta
Delta Phi Epsilon
Sigma Sigma Sigma
Theta Phi Alpha

I was going to ask that also and was wondering if Chi Omega or Tri Sigma morphed into a similar group. (note: I'm not trying to bust anyone, just curious, so if anyone knows the skinny feel free to PM me. )

If you tap on the link for the front page of the paper, you'll see that Phi Sigma Sigma has an ad at the bottom of the page. Very smart.

Wait. Who is the other new sorority? I know Delta Phi Epsilon is coming but, you aren't including them in the mix right now yet, are you? I mean, do we have other non-NPC organizations coming to PSU too? I'm just wondering. I didn't realize that Chi Omega left PSU. When did that happen? I knew they got in trouble for a party/ mixer they threw that was viewed as culturally insensitive but, I didn't know they actually lost their charter. Was it for that? It's sad to see Delta Delta Delta, Chi Omega, and Sigma Sigma Sigma no longer at Penn State.

There are 18 sororities doing formal Fall recruitment this year, all NPC. Delta Phi Epsilon is NOT one of them, but Phi Sigma Sigma is (those are the two who are new, ALS463). I think DPhiE will be holding informal recruitment later.
Alpha Gamma Delta left campus in the 1980s (numbers). Chi Omega Tri Delt, and Tri Sig left recently (Tri Delt for hazing allegations, Chi O for photos that implied both drug use AND racism, and Tri Sig for numbers). Not sure if the whole "Trilogy" thing is still a thing. My friends with daughters in Panhel sororities don't know much about them.
Alpha Epsilon Phi has been at PSU on and off, but left for the last time in the early 70s.
Alpha Sigma Tau and Theta Alpha Phi are active at Behrend/Erie campus, and AST is also on the Altoona branch campus. Not sure if they were ever active at the main campus, or ever will be.

Theta Phi Alpha
As far as I know, we're the only NPC to have never been at Penn State's main campus.
I'm really curious as to why we've never had a chapter there, and why we never even seem to make an attempt to present. A quarter of our chapters are in PA (2 of which, as you said, are on other Penn State campuses), we have a large alumnae presence in the state, and PSU is a huge school without huge housing costs. Of course there's more that goes into an expansion decision than that, but.. but.. it's seriously driving me crazy. I want to know why!

Tri Delta is now Trilogy at PSU? I was wondering how that went down. I knew a woman whose daughter went to PSU who was a major Delta Delta Delta!
I'm happy to see how many PNMs have signed up!

This talk about chapters is all very interesting but
I am really interested in knowing if Penn State can continue with doing recruitment the way that it always has - without resumes that include pictures, applications submitted a day or two ahead of recruitment, largely without recs (I sure hope so, or I wouldn't have joined) and over 8 days of back-to-back-to-back-to-back parties.
Comments? Thoughts?

Tri Delta is no longer in the PSU campus. To say Tri Delta is now another organization on the PSU campus is false. Whether or not members/former members of Tri Delta decided to form their own organization on PSU campus is their own deal, but it is in no way associated with Tri Delta.

That is a huge number of PNMs for Penn State! That's great to hear. Go Big Ten!
