Would she have been more willing to overlook some behavior that she didn't agree with if she had been running to join a group that she had wanted more?

To all who responded - my intention was not to state anything other than her feelings and to bring about a discussion around her experience.

I am not really in disagreement with many of the comments and believe the experience as a whole would be very rewarding.

She was truly happy with the initial placement and was under no false expectations that she would absolutely get her first choice or be placed in exactly the sorority she wanted. Her initial response to us was she was extremely happy and satisfied of where she ended up. I to do not want her to make a snap decision based on what she stated. Luckily she has other college friends locally to talk to on the matter and my only involvement is to listen and not judge and provide feedback if asked.

As far as the drinking and swearing etc. etc., no one lives under a rock in our family. Her decisions are the ones she lives with good or bad when it comes to what she ultimately decides.

Just a caring parent that looking from the outside in. Not trying to judge the whole system or a specific group. This is why I intentionally left out the sorority name and actual school.

I think we can all pretty much figure out the school from your username.

Riiiiight.

You're a "caring parent" who just wants the best for his daughter, so you decided to strafe an unrelated group of strangers with venom about the character of your daughter's sorority chapter, their behavior and their reputation.

Regardless of the intent, I do think this is a good reminder that even though Bid Day is the official end of recruitment it's still a good idea to be on good behavior.

When I was in school we were encouraged to "always be rushing". Some girls may be unhappy or on the fence about a chapter and the members will need to work on those women.

The behavior described could be indicative to a chapter that may not be actually be a good fit for a PNM or it could be a bunch of inside jokes that the PNM doesn't get yet.
