Informal Recruitment at SFA?
Hey y'all. So i just got some really terrible news today. I unfortunately will not be attending LSU in the fall. It was a huge heartbreak for my parents and I but we realize that it wasn't God's plan. So instead, I will be attending a community college here in Texas and transferring over to SFA in the spring. My question is, if anyone know, does SFA have spring recruitment? I look forward to hearing from y'all! Axe 'em jacks! (I hope I got that right haha)

Oh! Stephen F Austin! I am very proud of myself for getting that one.

Yes, SFA usually has spring (informal) recruitment. http://www.sfasu.edu/studentaffairs/106.asp

I'm sorry that you aren't going to go to LSU as you'd hoped, but I do have to commend you on your mature and positive outlook. Best of luck to you!

Hi tigergirl13!
In days gone by, lo long ago (when I was at SFA - Axe 'em Jacks!), we had formal recruitment in the spring. We have now moved to a fall formal recruitment, with some sororities choosing to hold an informal recruitment in the spring. Keep in mind that the operative word here is "some" -- some do, while not all will. Remember that in an informal recruitment scenario (as in a formal one), you will come into contact with sorority women in class, in your dorm, in the dining halls; you might not know who is what sorority (not everyone wears their letters every day). The girl you pushed out of the way to get to the cereal bar might be the same girl you see at a recruitment event.
If you need any other SFA-centric advice, please let me know. Good luck!

I LOVE SFA! You will absolutely love that school! And the beautiful scenery doesn't hurt either. Great choice and great attitude you have. Good luck in finding a chapter perfect for you. I wish they would open for expansion!

The last time SFA opened for expansion was about 25 years ago (ack!); Sigma Kappa had just closed (their last formal rush was Spring 1989 or 1990). I don't remember how many groups presented, but the two finalists were Alpha Delta PI and Gamma Phi Beta. Gamma Phi Beta was selected, but due to reasons I don't care to go into, it closed down a few years later. We all thought Alpha Delta Phi was going to be selected, as the Student Affairs dean in charge of greek life was herself an ADPi.

Maybe that was one of the reasons ADPi wasn't selected? Conflict of interest?
