^^^ I thought so too...I think the hat shape put the idea in my head first. I can't tell if it says Phi Sigma Sigma or Sigma Sigma Sigma, but with the purple it's probably Sigma Sigma Sigma.
It sounds like the university forgot it was there!

Yeah. It's definitely Sigma Sigma Sigma. We've never had Phi Sigma Sigma on campus at University Park.

Hmmmm....After checking, I realize I was wrong on that one. Thanks for noting that ASTalumna06. You are right. Their Beta Eta chapter (established 1946) is inactive and I think it is returning this fall. As far as sororities never being at PSU-University Park, I was pretty certain that Delta Phi Epsilon has not had a chapter there. As far as sororities not being at PSU, because we have a chapter (your chapter) at another PSU campus, I consider AST to be an NPC we have at Penn State...just another campus!

Yes, I should have specifically said the main campus.
According to irishpipes thread, it looks like Delta Phi Epsilon has also been on campus:

You have to wonder who buried it originally, and whether things like that are kept on record.

Granted it's not as critical as the forgotten 1950s smallpox samples that were just found in that NIH storage room, but it does seem like the kind of thing someone should keep track of! Unless they wanted it to be an accidental discovery, which is kind of neat.

It was buried far enough back that they could have put Smallpox samples in the time capsule.
