As for all of my sisters in Alpha Phi & most of the fellow greeks from Davis I've talked with....the Sigma's have become "known" all over town, as a joke! :P
I'd love to tell you what "un-Sigma like" behavior is, but the only thing I've heard from friends still at Davis is that it's anything that doesn't exemplifying Jewish Values, unity, trust, strength, & sincere sisterhood....so I guess that bitch slapping your fellow new members is a-ok?!

i know many posters said they like mara but i'm starting to not like her. on the last show, she was totally agreeing with jordan about amanda and i can't stand people like that. they smile in your face and then go behind your back and talk about you.. that seems to be a trend in the house. as for this really giving us a glimpse into sorority life, i didnt expect that at all even though i did hope to see more rushees talking and expressing their feelings about the sorority, the sisterhood, etc. it seems like all we watch is these girls dancing, drinking, getting ready to go out and dance and drink, and have drama. i'm sick of it but i'm tuning in next week. lol
and i didn't appreciate jordan acting like she was the hot stuff by telling amanda to apologize. i don't care what jordan says... i for one think that people change and make new friends. i think jordan just misses having a leech attached to her butt.

I like Mara a lot, in that she has the total "Jewish Princess" thing
going on (I mean that in a good way!) and seems like a perfect fit for
the Sigmas.
On the other hand she just finished her junior year and already has a
pretty well-formed personality. My experience is that people who
pledge when they are 21 or 22 rather than 18 or 19 have a whole
different set of circumstances than the "babies".
But I really don't know - I think it could go either way. She seems
to adapt to whoever she's around. Since we never see her (or any
other pledge) interacting or forming relationships with the actives,
it's too hard to tell.
Also, she seems very giving and philanthropy-oriented, but will MTV
show the Sigma pledge class doing a philanthropy project? Images of
flying pigs come to mind...

Mara is by far my favorite! She seems the most normal. Plus she's into changing the world. Gotta love her.
There's a question that's been eating at me.
Sigma colonized at San Diego State the same quarter that the show was filmed. How has the show affected the new chapter? I really can't imagine helping that much. Especially since they have had like no time to develop their own image on campus.
Also there's a group at UC San Diego that wants to affiliate with Sigma. I wonder how they'll be effected.

one of my alumnae sisters ran into Leah (the president), Candace and Amanda at her work or something like that. She said they were all nice and actually a lot more prettier than you see on camera. So if anyone was wondering if Amanda quits, she most likely didn't.

This show just makes me laugh!!!! The scenarios are completely silly and it is really making me wonder if this show wasn't scripted!
And I don't understand the fact that some of their members are all upset because of the negative effects that have happened since the show has aired. MTV is a business. Plain and simple. They are no one's friends. And they will do *anything* to make a buck... even if it means showing the "dirty laundry" (as a GC member so eloquently put it) of a sorority on television.

Well folks, in about 28 hours we will have yet ANOTHER episode of Sorority Life to watch, which I am sad sometimes to say I watch almost religiously. Like I put in my AOL away message, "I am watching Sorority Life... what else do I have to criticize? " I don't know if the girls are that way in reality, but the almost "fictional" charicters that MTV has created though videoediting really crack me up!

This show just seems like a huge joke all together, b/c this sorority is the furthest thing from what it is really like. I mean, come on... they actually said in one of the first episodes something to the effect of 'we want the girls to choose us, and not us to choose them' They didn't even cut anyone... I think it's great that they have the ability to operate like that and give everyone an opportunity to decide whether or not they want to be a part of the chapter, but that is nothing like what it is anywhere down south. You fight for a spot in any chapter, and the very idea of quitting during pledging?? There are hundreds of girls who would kill to be in your spot, and their pledging seems like a cake walk compared to what it is really like. This show is a joke, and if they really wanted to have a controversial reality show, all they had to do was go to any school in TX and film rush for simply one week. That is enough controversy to last a season.

DANG
man it seems like Amanda is just desperate to find a friend. I can't believe Candice kissed the guy she liked, that was jacked. and for her to say she didn't know she was doing it, that's a lie cause on the second kiss, her face was like "oh damn". She knew what she was doing.
I have to admire Jordan for not being a punk, she speaks her mind and so does Mira.
I forgot the chubby ones name(all I can think is "Sylvia slapped meeeeee!"lol!) but she gets in trouble with Amanda on the next episode and Jordan lets her know that isn't going to work while she's there. She might be crying on the next one "Amanda slapped meeeeee!"

was it editing, or did candace kiss that guy 3 times--there was that first time, the second when she made the 'shhhh' expression w/ her finger, and the third when amanda saw them?
I don't think candace is befriending amanda for good reasons, i think she just doesn't like the competiton with jordan and is sayin/doin stuff for amanda to trust her for now.
I think jordan is a nice girl with some self confidence issues and that is why all the makeup etc, but she doesn't look bad with it on, and it could be way worse--i've seen way too many faces with too much makeup. so what if someone likes a lil color.
I don't like jessica. She looks all innocent, but totally guilty (know what i mean?) but seems to be vindictive (sp?).
In the preview for next week, isn't amanda bitching at jordan to not to talk to jessica or something?

i actually thought that last night's episode was one of the better ones. the only BIG drama was the whole kiss thing...granted it was a bad move on candace's part, but who hasn't been involved or known someone in college that has been put in that situation. And i don't think its 100% ok to put all the blame on candace bc it was also that guy's fault too...he has a girlfriend and he knew amanda wanted him.
i thought their big/lil stuff was cute. our big/lil ceremony is public and is outside in the middle of a park, so to us it's not something we would do behind closed doors, but every sorority has their own quirks. i would have liked to have seen it.
on a catty obnoxious note:
jordan needs to SEPARATE her eyelashes when wearing mascara, mara needs a tan--for god sakes she is in california, go to the BEACH!, and jessica still bothers me. but at least we finally saw dede!

Previously in this post, I said I'd like Candace to be a part of my chapter...I retract that statement! DAMN, she deserves to get her face slapped as well!!! She knew what she was doing kissing that guy, and Amanda goes and says "it's ok, just don't let it happen again!". I mean, get a backbone girl!!!! She just hooked up with the guy that you said you've been lusting after forever!!
I agree with whomever said that Candace is hanging out with Amanda now, because she knows she can't compete with Jordan when they go out. Candace seems to be one of those girls who needs to be the prettiest of the bunch. Gosh, I'm so catty

I don't think that's what anyone was saying - but as any college woman knows, there are always sleazy older guys hanging around clubs and bars trying to pick up chicks that are 10 years younger than them. I see it all the time, at every club I've ever gone to.
At the first fraternity party that I ever went to, I was talking to this guy who wanted to know when I graduated. I assumed he meant high school graduation, so I told him that I graduated in 1999. He told me he had graduated in 1994. Later in the conversation, I realized that he meant he had graduated from COLLEGE in 1994. He wasn't at the party to reunite with his old brothers, or to help out his fraternity, or anything of the like. He was there to find a chick.
I think situations like that cause statements like "He's sketch, he's twenty eight", not age discrimination.
