DG still owns their house. The U is using it as the "University House" but if DG comes back, they get their house back. At least, that's what AOII was told when we came on. We used it for part of colony recruitment but it was not available to us after that. It is a great location and I hope DG can come back. They have a good alumnae base along with the house. It may need to be expanded. It seems like it was smaller than the other houses, but I could be wrong about that. It's a pretty house too.

Yeah, the Theta house was the lone sorority house on Stadium Drive when I was in school. KD house was owned by University Baptist Church as I recall. I think the old DG and Phi Mu houses are UA offices now?

Interesting. Just found this online.
Phi Mu re-established their Alpha Beta Chapter in 2012 and will build their new home on Maple Street.
The article is 6 months old. I hope this is true that Phi Mu has a lot on Maple! If they do, my Fayetteville contacts don't know about it, but hopefully progress has been made!

It seems like both the DG and the Theta houses were noticeably smaller than the others. But is there anywhere that the DG house could expand to? I don't remember what was next to it and behind it. Futrall Hall? The 4-H House?--but that was torn down.
When I was in school, the Theta house was on a corner of Maple close to the Animal Science Building.

You're right, Futrall is behind DG and Holcombe is behind Phi Mu/Theta.

You lead me on a hunt, where I found this: about the UA Alpha Chi Omega house.
I might know more come August; a close family friend will be going through recruitment there this fall!

Re Colgate, just cause I got curious. Looking at the chapter websites, one only has 110 members. Is that chapter small/below total, was this quota of 65 some weird spike, or does the system have a retention problem?

Based on the Kinco inset and the UA campus map, it looks to be between AOPi and KKG. I am assuming one is AXO and the other is Phi Mu. It also looks like LXA is under renovation and I know Pi Phi is planning a rebuild in the near future.

Colgate: You must be sophomore level to go through recruitment. It's a retention issue, though heaven knows there aren't many places to live in Hamilton, and there have been some town/gown issues in the past. I love, love, love the GPB blue house.

Clarification for Colgate: All of the groups have a retention issue. New member classes are huge because there are only 3 NPC groups, and, if you can dig up older copies of the University paper, the administration has not been Greek-friendly. Theta closed at Colgate roughly the same time that it closed at Johns Hopkins. Like JHU (now recolonized), I think Theta has an agreement to return at some point to Colgate.

Re: Arkansas Lots - Yes. If you follow this link, and go to page 3 there is a better visual of where the two lots and houses will be: http://planning.uark.edu/capital_bud...phimu_arch.pdf

As some of you know, UA knocked down my grandmother's house after she died and the AOII House now backs right up to her former property. They built a huge parking lot over it. Now I guess they'll rip up the parking lot and part of the Phi Mu house will be on it, no matter which site is used.
I hope they treat her poodle's grave with respect.

That's kind of what I figured. And to make a giant assumption with regards to northern vs southern sorority size, probably part of the retention issue is that the women feel the pledge classes are too big.
