The controlled for socioeconomic status. The problem is that it still doesn't show causation. You could just as easily argue that students prone to a higher well-being are more likely to join the Greek system.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner.

Students who are accepted in GLOs have high GPAs and good extra-curriculars. If they don't, they don't get accepted. There's nothing here that suggests that belonging to a GLO improves outcomes for these people.
