I wasted quite a bit of time today reading this "manifesto."

Key points:

Unlimited video gaming while at his mother's house (shared custody), up to eleven hours straight playing "World of Warcraft"

Shooter had social problems from a young age. But at least twice the father takes him on an extended summer break and he starts a new school two weeks into the semester.

Several times he recounts 'throwing a tantrum' to achieve desired results from parents.

And a question:

The document is pretty detailed about his life. However, he only mentions therapists and 'life coaches' during his time in Santa Barbara.

Mental health has been a hot topic at colleges.

The other 3 victims have been identified:

http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/isl...-spree-n114281

Quote:
The three victims who were stabbed in the apartment of the man who unleashed a rampage in the college town of Isla Vista, California, were identified by authorities Sunday, two days after the violent spree.

The victims were identified as Cheng Yuan Hong, 20, and George Chen, 19, both of San Jose, and Weihan Wang, 20, of Fremont.

Authorities said that Hong and Chen were listed as tenants at the apartment of 22-year-old Elliot Rodger, who was suspected of causing the rampage. It was unclear if Wang was a roommate, too. All three were students at the University of California Santa Barbara.

I figured they would be his roommates. He definitely tried to follow his plan for the Day of Retribution. Stab the roommates, attack the Alpha Phi house, kill people with his car and commit suicide. Thank goodness those women at Alpha Phi didn't answer the door. From UCSBs calendar, the academic year ended May 21. I presume the house may have closed for the summer? If so, the delays in his plan probably saved a lot of women's lives.

I haven't double checked this, but I believe that UCSB is one of the UC campuses that operates on the quarter system. If so, the spring quarter is not completed yet. They would have another week or two of classes, then final exams. However, being that it was the start of a long weekend, a lot of students may have gone home as the majority of students at UCSB are California residents. The Alpha Phi house may have been on the empty side that evening. Either way, thank God no one opened that door.

This whole story has me reeling. The selfie videos are chilling. I can't watch them any more.

Yeah, they don't end until mid June. https://registrar.sa.ucsb.edu/cal2014.aspx

I don't know what I was looking at, but I thought what I looked at said finals ended May 21. Maybe I was looking at the middle column and my head translated March into May.

Today's issue of the UCSB newspaper contains several articles about the response from the University and Isla Vista community, as well as some information about some of the victims. Classes tomorrow (Tuesday) have been cancelled and there will be another memorial at Harder Stadium.

Personally, I would like to focus on the victims and the survivors, and not on the shooter. He's getting the lion's share of the attention.

After reading the perpetrator's manifesto, he mentions that he had been outside of the Alpha Phi house.
How often was he there and for how long?
He does not say. That is what is disturbing.
If someone is parked outside of the house, I would hope that something would be said.

I remember a while ago a poster came on here stating that he was going to be a guard a sorority house. If that is the case, I would like hear his experiences.

My heart goes out to all of those affected.

When the hell are people going to realize they aren't owed everything they want, including the affections and good will of others?

Well, I would take this with a big giant grain of salt made up of racism, ablism, homophobia, sexism, etc., but as it applies to this case, yes, if no woman will give you the time of day, IT'S NOT THE WOMEN.

What makes me the angriest about this is there probably WAS some girl out there who found him attractive that he didn't bother to give the time of day.

If there was some girl who liked him, she's lucky he didn't notice. He really, really hated women.

He hated pretty and popular women. Women who did not fit that description probably weren't on his radar. Which of course adds an additional level of asshole.

3 victims identified, 2 of which were shot outside the Alpha Phi house:

http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/isl...rority-n113951

Quote:
The first victim of the horrific shooting spree near the University of California, Santa Barbara, has been identified as 20-year-old Christopher Ross Michael-Martinez, an English major who planned to go to law school after graduation.

Martinez, who was at a deli at the time of the shooting and never made it to the hospital, was expected to finish college in three years with a high GPA and intended to spend a year in London.

Officials also identified two other people among the six killed Friday: Veronika E. Weiss, 19, and Katherine B. Cooper, 22, both shot outside the Alpha Phi sorority house near the UCSB campus.
