What came to mind to me right away is Hey, you could do a MAUDE theme! Never heard of it? That's the point. But even more to the point, as you set out on your life of event planning, fundraising and party having, don't reinvent the wheel. Rush is a crazy amount of work in the very best circumstances. As a new chapter, this is NOT the time to be creative. Use what your headquarters has available to you. Update with your school name, colors, some local controversy on you campus, whatever, but you do not need to find out the hard way if you have any talent in script writing.
And besides, the purpose, IMO, of the skit round is to show the chapter members interacting with each other. The cheering for each other, the inside joke that must be hysterically funny, the heartfelt hugs, etc. It doesn't need to be revolutionary, it just needs to be done well and all the sisters have to act like it's an Oscar worthy performance, even if it sucks.

YES!
Picking a theme and writing a script isn't the biggest part of skit round, it's the EXECUTION - both on the performer side and the chapter audience side.
I've been on the sidelines of my own chapter (very new at the time) when we presented a pretty convoluted skit that flopped. Our biggest issues? First, the premise of the skit wasn't relevant to PNMs or particularly clever. Second, our chapter was NOT stoked about it when we saw it (which was too late in the recruitment prep game - we hadn't seen it until the last minute). It was hard for us to muster excitement when we watched during 8 rounds.

Laughing because I've heard of it and now I have the song stuck in my heard lol
Clemsongirl--I like the idea of doing "The Voice" you mentioned with the four judges.
I think in a few years, Frozen will be a great Disney skit when current elementary school girls get to college. Great songs and great theme about sisterhood and sacrifice.

Why wait? Most of my high school girls have seen it, love it and have downloaded the songs to their iPods. Frozen could be a good theme next year!

My entire campus is OBSESSED with that movie. I feel like the only person I know who hasn't seen it! When it snowed here a few weeks back all anyone could sing was "Do You Want To Build A Snowman". There would definitely be enough PNM recognition for that to work as a skit, IMO.

Agreed. I think Frozen would be a great theme! Chapters back in my day were doing Disney themed skits based on recent releases; think this would work well.

Glad to know college girls like it too. I haven't seen the movie but my daughter listens to it nonstop and the songs are great!
"Do you wanna be an XYZ?" instead of of "Do you want to build a snowman"
