I am as to the "logic" as to why they dance.
I don't think that reference to dancing as a pastime necessarily means that that is all the studentds do. Crozier Middle School kids can't necessarily work either so that's not much of an option. In LA, dance groups are very popular and do tend to keep kids out of trouble. They are very organized (think cheerleading after school or majorettes or something.)

I particularly have issues with the dance because younger kids (middle and high school ) DON'T know the history and it is a fad. They think it is cool but I remember a time when no one did that dance (not only is it difficult but for other obvious reasons) but crips from whatever gang. To youth, it is a fad and mayber a challenge because it is hard. But, crips do it for REAL and it actually looks different than what's seen on videos and by like, Lil Bow Wow. It's not as "skippy." I doubt it will get anyone shot, but I do understand why school officials, especially in Los Angeles, would be concerned.

Either way, I will be glad when the fad is a done deal.
