About 1969 or '70, back when Lily first closed up shop, some of the fabric appeared in a North Carolina thrift store that regularly got shipments of tony stuff from NYC. Then it popped up here and there in a few fabric stores (back then every town had a fabric store, even small ones).
When Lily reappeared this century, I did a little googling and found out a lot of that fabric had been smuggled out of the factory by the employees! Back then most fabric was produced in North Carolina.

Thank you Anchor! Glad to hear that!
So the answer to my question is buried in a thread somewhere! I only get 2 names, Alpha Gam and Theta from local news and Internet searches. I will spend the rest of the day searching here...not. It will come out sooner or later. I hope to see mine joining the list soon.

a diversity quilt would be ... oh, nevermind.
um - minorities. This confuses me. What's the context? Do we mean anyone who isn't WASP? yet, in AZ in some counties the majority population is NOT caucasian. can someone help define terms so i don't get lost?

"Minority" refers to the small subset of the GC population who is more awesome than AZTheta.
You know what "minority" refers to even in environments where white Anglosaxon Prostestants are the population size minority.

I think what she's talking about is that all the articles on the UA situation state that X number of bids were given to AAs and Y number to "other minorities" with no clarification as to what those entail.

Not to be snarky... but adding an "apostrophe s" does not make a plural!

Soror cares because she's both a scholar and a student.

In other news, I understand that England's granddaughter pledged a chapter, but not one I have seen speculated upon here at GC.
Hopefully the Investigation Biddies will be on it immediately.

Thank you Blue Skies and Yes, Tichou that is exactly what I am talking about. Sorry Dr Phil was offended. If I wanted to pledge a NPHC sorority, I would be a minority. If my child, who was born in India, wanted to pledge an NPC sorority at Bama, she would be a minority. It would not offend her to be called so, nor would I be offended.
Too bad real discussion can't be done in this thread. The subject is something I have done my part to change over the past 20 years. I am very happy these young women spoke up and even more happy at the pact the NPC sororities have made.
Contrary to what many of you apparently believe all Alabama Greek Alums are not prejudiced and even more difficult for you to believe is that those of us who grew up in the 60s are even less so. But then, we are the women who fought with our sisters of all races in the business world to open doors that were closed to women of all races.
Thank you.
