I called my dad to brag that I saw the movie and give him spoilers. Turns out he went on Friday with my nephews (they're in college). My dad loved it and is going again this week.

My dad was born in the late 1930s so many of the things in the movie are firsthand knowledge. He also has firsthand knowledge of Black nationalist movements. He knows all about more overt racism and being so pissed off that you become extremely active, potentially bordering on extremist.

I'm going to see the movie again and get the DVD when it is released. You all hurry up and see it so we can type more details and white font spoilers. LOL.

I hope to try to see it next weekend. It's rare anymore that I get to see a movie that isn't made by Disney or Pixar, but this seems worthy of making the exception and finding a sitter.

Lee Daniels, Lenny Kravitz, and Cuba Gooding, Jr. were on Piers Morgan last night. They are extremely goofy. Gooding said something like "saying wassup to the hockey..." and I swore he said a racial slur towards whites. I was uncomfortable but when Piers Morgan chuckled I gathered that Gooding said "hockey."

Morgan asked them about their experiences with more overt racism and discrimination.

The movie is doing extremely well in the box office. Kravitz said a lot of people don't recognize him in the movie.
