Question - what would cause a school to close, and how would they go about the process? What happens to students already enrolled?

Do a web of GC search of Lambuth College. It closed last year and had some active sorority chapters at that time.

From what I remember hearing, Lambuth was a church-related school and the church could not afford to continue to operate it. But that's just what I heard; I don't know for sure.
I imagine the active sorority members became alumnae, unless they transferred to another institution with their GLO and affiliated with that chapter.

I was president of my sorority when Lambuth closed. We all became alums together. Overall it was a very sad process, honestly. Lambuth had been operating in debt for a long while and finally realized that the debt was growing too quickly to overcome, so they really had no choice but to close. None of our girls affiliated with another chapter, but I know some girls from other organizations joined new chapters. Lambuth did offer summer classes until they closed so all of our seniors, some of our juniors, and even two of our sophomores who were ahead on credit hours were able to graduate.

It was so sad when Lambuth closed. I'm sorry that both your school and chapter are closed.

It seemed to happen with very little notice, too.
