Which is the kind of question you ask people with whom you are familiar. You wouldn't just go up to random people and ask. GC regulars may or may not know each other in real life, but if you had asked such a question here, you wouldn't have gotten that kind of a response. Because you're "known." Even a newbie who joined the boards, joined in some threads, and generally chatted a bit wouldn't have gotten the same response. Also, note the use of not quite right terminology. No one has chimed in yet to say that's what ABC calls/called it.
Smelled like a troll to me, YMMV.

I do recall that Chi Omega refers to that position as the Personnel Chair; ADPi calls it the Director of Standards and Ethics. As I am not a Chi Omega I didn't say anything until this was pointed out. Chi O's, please correct me if I am wrong.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I still think its a weird question to just ask random people.

We may find it weird, but they have a reason for asking and this is the fraternity and sorority chat network. What better place to ask the question if you don't have recent chapter sisters on hand to ask and executive office is closed for the night?
What nefarious end can come of answering this non-ritual question? Worst case scenario: If OP's username appears suspicious and we think she's writing a novel about Greeks, isn't it better to provide accurate information than fitting the stereotypical mean girls mold that the media likes to paint around sororities?
And maybe she hasn't kept in touch with any Greek sisters, or its late at night, or her friends don't know either. People use the internet to find quick answers.
Why have we grown so quick to condemn everyone?

Yeah, even if she is writing a novel or something--so what? It seems like pretty harmless information to me. I like people to do their research, even/especially about minor things. We were all pretty helpful to that Mike guy a year or two ago who was working on a Greek-based script (oooooh maybe it was for Monsters U?????). Are we jumping on her because she says she's Greek? Or because there haven't been any terrible PNMs through here recently?

As I said, your mileage may vary. We all have our own opinions.
I typically use google to find what I want to research instead of registering on a message board. A search of this site would have yielded an answer to the question. I thought it was a weird question. Others did not see it that way. Vive le difference!

I think we were legitimately suspicious of the OP. She came here identifying herself as a writer and immediately asked a question that is private information. There are plenty of "sorority tell all" stories in the media casting shade on our organizations. I think there was plenty to be extra cautious about.

How so? Asking about sorority offices isn't private information. Many chapters list their offices and office holders on their websites/Facebook/etc. I don't see anything suspect or asking about "private information" in the original post at all. I don't give a lot of thought to the screen names people choose. Now, if someone used "Ted Bundy" or "Lee Oswald" I might cast a sideeye.
OP, contact your own sorority HQ if you need specifics. And a google search of "Chi Omega Chapter Officers" reveals that there is, in fact, a Personnel Chair. Whoop-dee-doo.

LAwriter, forgive us for being properly cautious when someone pops up just for the purpose of asking sensitive questions about private matters.

I too thought it was an odd question for someone in an NPC group. She could have just called the nearest chapter, alum group or probably even read her group's magazine to see if that office was listed.
