I also yawned at Rushmore. It was disappointing.

That's exactly what I thought of when I saw that post! Great minds.
Am I the only female who just was not into Dirty Dancing at all?

Nope. I was never into it either.
I liked Patrick Swayze but I can't think of any movie of his that I liked. Including Ghost which was just stupid.

My favorite Patrick Swayze movie is "To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar."

Oh yeah, I've heard good things about that movie. Thanks. I'll have to check it out.
Meanwhile, I have to add Donnie Darko to the list of well-liked films that I just don't get. I've tried to watch it three times and I just can't do it. Maybe it gets better towards the end?

Seeing three very strong and masculine men, Noxeema Jackson (Wesley Snipes), Vida Boheme (Patrick Swayze), and Chi-Chi Rodriguez (John Leguizamo), dressed in drag and pulling off performances as drag queens was particularly wonderful. Patrick said he did it to honor his mother, and I think you can see honoring of female relatives in all three performances. Seeing Wesley Snipes do something other than an action movie is a real treat.
